What would you choose?

If you could improve yourself in one area by some modifications in your genes, what would you choose? An improvement in memory? Fitness? Beauty? Longevity? Or talent?

Harvey V. Fineberg from the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies starts his TED talk by asking this question. He explains some principles of evolution. And he points out that it won’t be too long until we will be able to make targeted manipulations on our genes.

Back to our question from the beginning: If you could improve yourself in one area by some modifications in your genes, what would you choose? An improvement in memory? Fitness? Beauty? Longevity? Talent? Or something completely different? What would the result look like, what would be the your ideal state concerning this one area? And, more importantly: Would it make you happier?
